About Me
My name is Marie and I am the founder of Wellness Steps. I am passionate about empowering people to make positive changes in their lives. We can all easily get stuck trying to change our behaviour, whether this is to make lifestyle wellness changes or self-manage a long term health condition better. Using Coaching, Mindfulness and my experience as a Chartered Physiotherapist (with 27yrs experience in a variety of clinical settings), I help clients achieve their goals and lead a more resilient and stress free life. I presently work with an NHS ME/CFS service and, in my last post, was instrumental in setting up our local Post Covid Service. I also have professional experience working for an NHS Pain Management Service.
I support clients on a 1:1 basis, presently via phone or video appointment. I also deliver a number of online workshops to allow people to share their change journey with others in a mutually supportive environment.
I enjoy teaching the benefits of Mindfulness and Coaching with other professionals, both in a clinical and corporate setting, enabling these benefits to be available to a wider audience.

I have had personal experience of navigating health challenges, in my life. I have self-managed long covid, viral arthritis, unexplained chest pain and depression. By focusing on mindfulness, self-compassion and working towards allowing negative thoughts and feelings to come and go without getting hooked onto them, I am living a good quality of life more in line with my values.

Improving self-management long term health conditions, including the secondary psychological impact, not only improves our quality of life, but has also been documented to increase work productivity, reduce healthcare costs and facilitate better outcomes with clinical treatment programmes.

Self-management of Long-term Health Conditions
People living with long term health conditions often need specific support to make the health changes my colleagues in the NHS have recommended. Unfortunately this isn’t always that easy. I have treated many people with long term health conditions in the NHS including: ME/CFS; Long Covid; chronic pain; neurological conditions, including functional disorders; multiple pathology in older age including falls prevention and dizziness and orthopaedic rehabilitation. Learning how to self-manage health conditions is challenging and I can support you to find the strategies that work best for you in managing the symptoms and any negative thoughts and feelings that may arise.
One to one sessions
Individual appointments make the focus solely on you. These take place either via phone or video meeting.
Having a package of sessions will provide you with: a step-by-step plan developed together so it is specific for you and the goals you wish to achieve; techniques to address negative thoughts and feelings which can keep you stuck and ongoing support will help you get the results you want.
Health &Wellness / Life
Coaching
Working collaboratively with a Health & Wellness Coach facilitates your journey to achieving personally chosen goals. I provide non-judgmental, compassionate support and guidance enabling you to explore what goals you would like to work towards. Then together we decide upon, and take, the first steps towards achieving those goals with the aim of improving your quality of life.
My practice is informed by trauma informed care; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; Compassion Focused Therapy; Positive Psychology and somatic therapy linking with my Mindfulness qualification.
Mindfulness for Health & Stress
Breathworks 8 week Mindfulness for Stress couse and Mindfulness for Health courses are held throughout the year in varied locations. These are workshop based with practical and taught learning. You will have the opportunity to learn mindfulness skills with other like minded people.

I weave mindfulness practice throughout my work as we all need to know where we are before we can move forwards.
Workshops
I lead a weekly online video session which provides a space for people with long term conditions to share experiences and learn a self-management tool, practising and discussing how they found it. Peer support is so important to help challenge the isolation so often felt by people with chronic conditions.

I lead Breathworks Mindfulness for Health and Mindfulness for Stress courses at various venues across Norfolk. I also run health & wellness coaching courses in workshop form, which help you achieve your goals with the support of others travelling your journey with you.
Corporate Workshops
